Chlamydia Voucher Self Checklist

This checklist is for people who have tested positive for chlamydia through Lothian Sexual Health Service and are collecting their treatment from a local pharmacy.

Please read this information carefully before collecting your treatment. It will help you check whether the pharmacy voucher is suitable for you.

If any of the information below applies to you, do not collect your treatment from the pharmacy yet. Contact Chalmers to speak to a nurse on 0131 536 2108.

Before you collect your treatment

We recommend that any recent sexual partners are tested for chlamydia.

Please tell your recent sexual partners that they should contact their local sexual health clinic for testing.

Do not have sex with recent partners until they have either:

  • Received a negative chlamydia test result; or
  • Completed their treatment.

You should not have any sexual contact while taking your antibiotics and until 7 days after you have completed your treatment.

Your chlamydia voucher expires 14 days after it is issued.

Speak to a nurse before collecting your treatment if:

You have any of these symptoms

  • Swollen lymph nodes.
  • Swelling or pain around your anus.
  • Recent pain in your lower abdomen.
  • Pain in your testicles.
  • Pain inside your vagina during vaginal sex.
  • Pain inside your anus during anal sex.
  • Unusual or unexpected bleeding from your vagina or anus.
  • A high temperature or you feel very unwell.

You are pregnant or breastfeeding

Contact a nurse before collecting your treatment if:

  • You are pregnant.
  • You think you may be pregnant.
  • You are breastfeeding.

You have recently had a procedure

Contact a nurse if:

  • You have had a termination of pregnancy within the last 4 weeks.
  • You have had an intrauterine contraceptive device (IUD or coil) inserted within the last 4 weeks.

You have certain medical conditions

Contact a nurse if:

  • You have severe kidney or liver disease.
  • You have systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).
  • You have myasthenia gravis.

You have an allergy or take other medicines

Contact a nurse if:

  • You are allergic to doxycycline.
  • You are taking any medicines that may interact with doxycycline.

If you are unsure whether the pharmacy voucher is suitable for you, do not collect your treatment until you have spoken to a nurse.
