Howden LARC+ Drop in Service
Our drop-in service for Long Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) at Howden Health Centre in Livingston is on Tuesday evening’s between 4pm and 5.30pm. This clinic is for anyone looking for Coli/IUD/Implant insertion or removal.
You don’t need an appointment, just drop in between 4pm and 5.30pm (last appointment time is 6.30pm), you may have to wait to be seen. Please do not arrive before 4pm as there is limited waiting space.
This clinic is only for LARC, if you have other sexual health needs please book an appointment, if you have an urgent sexual health issue you can also attend our Howden+ Drop in Service (details below).
Howden+ Drop-In Service
Our drop-in service is available every Friday morning at Howden Health Centre in Livingston from 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM. This is for anyone with an urgent sexual health issue. Some examples include:
- New symptoms of an STI
- Testing positive for an STI
- Having had sex with someone who has tested positive for an STI
- Need for emergency contraception
You don’t need an appointment—simply drop in during these times. Upon arrival, you’ll be triaged by a nurse. If we can’t address your issue during the drop-in, we may help you book an appointment for another day or guide you to your GP or pharmacy for further support.
Please note appointments can be arranged following phone consultations. You can phone 0131 536 1070 to book a phone consult to discuss STI concerns and contraceptive options or problems.
During your phone consultation you will speak to a nurse or a doctor. In many cases you will not require a face to face appointment. We are able to organise testing and treatment for most sexually transmitted infections over the phone. Home testing kits for STIs can be sent to you which you which you drop off at the nearest GP surgery. If any tests are positive we will organise treatment for you. If the doctor or nurse feels you need to be seen, appointments can be arranged for Chalmers or at your local clinic.
We can also provide long acting methods of contraception such as IUD and Implants. For implants call 0131 536 1070 and state which of the local clinics you wish to use. For IUD insertion these are bookable online via this link.
