Our services continue to be severely restricted, as we have reduced non-urgent services in response to Covid19.
We are not able to run any walk-in services. Please only attend our clinics if you have been told to do so by one of our clinical staff.
We are continuing to provide care for urgent problems including medical abortion, painful or distressing symptoms and sexually transmitted infections.
For all other services please read the advice on this website. If you still feel you need to speak to us please book an appointment (click here). You will have the option to make a phone back appointment either for STI issues or issues around reproductive health. You will be contacted on the mobile phone number you provide at around the time booked.
Please ensure you answer the phone when it rings and are able to speak clearly about your concerns. Please also be mindful of the pressure on all parts of the NHS and carefully read through our website (including patient info leaflets under Media Library above) before requesting a call.
You will have a phone discussion to decide what is the best way of providing you with care. Please be aware we may not be able to provide treatment or care for non-urgent conditions at the moment.
All other non-urgent services will be suspended until further notice. If you have been referred by your GP, referrals with be prioritised and only urgent cases will be seen. All other referrals will be deferred until further notice.
STI Testing
All routine STI testing where people do not have any symptoms is currently cancelled
We are not sending out PTKs (Postal Testing Kits) at present but we plan to have a postal testing service in place shortly.
Abortion service
To self-refer to the abortion service phone 0131 536 2454 between 9am-3pm Monday to Friday. This service has no answer phone, please call back if it rings out (as staff will be on another call).
Alternatively, you can phone 0131 536 1070 between 10am and 12.30 and 1pm and 3pm Monday to Friday.

Contraception
We are not offering routine coil (IUS/IUD) appointments at the moment.
We are following the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare updated guidance on extended duration of use of Long Acting methods of contraception while Covid19 restrictions are in place.
- Implants can now remain in place for 4 years
- Mirena and Levosert IUSs (coils) can remain in place for 6 years (if they are being used for contraception)
The risk of pregnancy is likely to be very small during the first year of extended use (that means the fourth year of having an Implant or the sixth year of having an IUS). Replacement can be delayed for up to a year after expiry to avoid unnecessary risk of coronavirus transmission due to contact with healthcare professionals. If you are anxious about the possible small risk of pregnancy you should use condoms until you can have your device changed.
If you are running out of supplies of the contraceptive pill and are not able to get this from your GP or a pharmacy, then we may be able to provide a supply. If you need a repeat injection of the contraceptive jag and cannot get this from your GP –then we will try to provide this, or a suitable temporary alternative for you. We will continue to provide emergency contraception including an emergency coil. In these situations, please book a call back appointment online or call us as above.

Local clinics
All local clinics, including West Lothian are closed. If you would normally have attended any of these and have an urgent problem please book a call back appointment online or call us as above.
Condoms
Most c:card locations are closed, but we are still sending condoms out by post. Complete the form online here and the condoms will be put in the post the next working day.
Gynaecology
We are unable to offer gynaecology appointments at this time. If you have been referred to this service you will remain on the waiting list until we are able to offer you an appointment. If the referral was urgent we will arrange for you to be seen in hospital.
Menopause
We are unable to offer menopause appointments at this time. If you have been referred to this service you will remain on the waiting list until we are able to offer you an appointment.
Young People (Healthy Respect +)
We are running a very limited HR+ Service (13-18 year old) in Chalmers Centre. If you need to be seen you will need to book an appointment online (click here) and a nurse will phone you back on the number you leave us as soon as possible. If the nurse feels you need to be seen then they will arrange for you to come into Chalmers, or we can give you some help and advice over the phone
