We are now opening appointments for online booking on a rolling basis for IUD/IUS insertions and changes.
Please read the information in the Coil (IUD/IUS) section of our website and, if you would like to book an appointment, please complete the pre-insertion checklist and follow the Book appointment link. If there is not an appointment available it is likely that they have already been filled, so please try again another day as they are being opened whenever we have enough staff to do so.
Remember if you already have an IUS, you may not need another one just yet. Current users can keep a Mirena or Levosert IUS in place with low risk of problems beyond five years. Research shows it is unlikely that women will get pregnant with the IUS in the 6th year of use. IUDs (‘copper coils’) that are licensed for 10 years are likely to be protective for up to 12 years. No guarantee can be made so you may wish to use condoms in addition, or add in a progestogen-only contraceptive pill if your coil has expired.
